FILM: Film Watch
The best place for you to find up and coming movies that will be hitting cinema screens in 2020.
2020 has been widely regarded as the year of Disney; The creative powerhouse has begun remaking movies to trigger the nostalgic part of their audience’s minds. With films such as Cars 2 and Beauty and the Beast gracing our screens in 2017, Disney has built a reputation for pumping out must watch films. However, they’re not the only movie makers releasing films to watch out for in 2020…
Not really supporting my paragraph above, Avatar 2 has been anticipated profusely since the first movie and the second edition promises amazing CGI and an incredible soundtrack, just like the original Avatar, but bigger; and better.
James Cameron has again taken the responsibility of directing and co-writing the movie, after his major critical and commercial success in both the first instalment in the Avatar series, and the legendary series starring iconic strong-man Arnold Schwarzenegger.
There is no doubt that Avatar 2 will take the movie market by storm, with people claiming that it will be movie of the year, without a trailer even being released yet. Avatar fans have been waiting 11 years for the second instalment, and hopefully their long wait will be worth it.
Another Disney production, Mulan is a live-action remake of the animated version with the same name, which hit cinema screens in 1998. Mulan itself is based on Hua Mulan, a Chinese warrior from the 4thand 5thcentury.
The trend of producing live-action movies has rose to prominence in 2018, and Mulan is being eagerly anticipated for Disney fans. However, the movie is a remake of a remake (remakeception?), but everyone is hoping that the promising movie reaches its great potential, that it has.
Finally! A movie not produced by Disney. Warner Bros are producing this movie, based on a series of novels by British writer Sir Arthur Cohan Doyle, the upcoming movie is the 3rdedition in the movie series. The first and second instalments received great reviews respectively, and this movie is sure to be even better, Robert Downey Jr adding some superpower to the mysterious character of private detective protagonist Sherlock Holmes.
The movie is set to be released on Christmas Day of 2020, and we are hoping that it’s the perfect Christmas present for film-lovers.
Fast & Furious 9
Hosted by Universal studios, this movie will feature one thing for sure: action. Over the last 10 years. The crew behind the production of the Fast and Furious franchise have contracted a bit of a reputation of just releasing movies to make cash, with Furious 7 grossing an astronomic $1.3 billion at box office, making it the 5thmost commercially successful movie of all time.
Aside from Fast and Furious movies making a s**t ton of money, the storyline is the backbone of the series, with the special effects, mental stunts and, most importantly, EXPLOSIONS!
Fast and Furious movies are always an entertaining watch no matter what, and there is one thing we know for certain will be blessing our screens on the 10thApril 2020: Dwayne Johnson’s smouldering eyes as he looks past the camera (every time Dwayne, every time).
Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find them 3
Not much is known about Fantastic Beasts 3, but if it’s anything like the first two instalments, then we’re in for a treat. An adaptation of a novel written by J.K. Rowling, main character, Newt Scamander, will embark on another epic journey, with many rumouring that the third instalment in the series may be the final one.
Overall, any Fantastic Beasts movie has become a must see for any fantasy-fanatic right now, and this won’t have changed when this one hits cinemas worldwide on 20thNovember 2020.
Guardians of the Galaxy 3
Another production of Warner Bros, Marvel really outdid themselves with Guardians of the Galaxy 2. Grossing $863 million dollars made it the 8thmost financially successful movie of all time. The movie featured a star-studded cast, including Vin Diesel, Bradley Cooper and Christ Pratt.
The release date has not yet been announced, but it is rumoured to have been in production straight after the 2ndaddition.
