Follow Up Films

In the upcoming years the superhero sector in the film industry will be releasing some of the most anticipated sequels. From Marvel to DC, fans of the heroes (or just fans of action in general) are sure to be excited for what’s to come.

Marvel: Avengers End Game

Marvel’s Avengers End Game is the highly anticipated superhero filmed based on the marvel comics direct sequel to Avengers Infinity War, which was released in 2018 and will become the 22nd film in the MCU universe. It is now the 4thAvengers film made in the quad trilogy and will ultimately be the last. The film was originally announced back in 2014, yet was named Avengers: Infinity War- Part 2 yet was officially renamed and became known as ‘named Untitled Avengers film’. Filming began in August 2017, straight after Avengers: Infinity War as the two films were filmed back to back. The film is scheduled to be released in the US and the UK in April 26th2019, and as of late December 2019 it was labelled the second most anticipated film of 2019 by IMDb. So far through the official trailer we have seen a glimpse of Iron Man, Captain America, Black Widow, Banner (the hulk), Thor and Nebula which already have fans creating theories and plans on how the final film just may end.

Wonder Women 1984

Wonder Woman 1984 is an upcoming American superhero film which is based around the DC comic character Wonder Woman and will be the second full-length feature film based around the character. The first Wonder Woman film came out in 2017 and stared Gal Gadot as the leading lady. The film received a 7.5 out of 10 on IMDb and a metascore of 76, although many long term DC fans were said to be disappointed. Discussions of a sequel began after the release of the first Wonder Woman film, and the decision to proceed with filming was confirmed later the following month. Wonder Woman 1984 is set to be released in 2020 as production officially finished on December 22 2018 after a six-month shoot and is scheduled to be released in the US on June 5th2020. Not much has been released, such as trailers and promo shots, so we’ll just have to wait and see!

Spider Man: Far From Home

After the huge success of Spider Man: Homecoming, released June 28th2017, with a metascore of 73 and a 7.5/10 rating on IMDb and a much-loved reception from Spider Man fans worldwide. It was obvious that a sequel would be made so we could see more of Tom Hollands take on the red suited hero. The sequel is to be set in Europe, instead of America in which Peter Parker (played by Tom Holland) is away on a school trip- yet the trouble follows him. We see him conflicted on needing his suit, and wanting to take a break from the super hero lifestyle and the consequences that occur with that. Through the trailer, we get to see a glimpse of another hero known to Spider Man fans- Mysterio in which they team up with Nick Furry to battle the so called ‘Elements”. The film is set to be released on July 5th2019 in America in both 3D and IMAX.
